Dogwood

In 2021, we all slowly began to emerge as safely as we could. When vaccines rolled out, my mother invited me on a road trip from NYC to Florida.She then commissioned a painting for her new Florida rental home. I chose to render the native dogwood (seen as a symbol of rebirth) in teal. A transitional color between both the cold (sad blue) and warm (optimistic yellow) tones of the wheel. The piece brought about a new chapter where the humming bird represents a messenger of joy and good luck for the days ahead.
